If you have been waiting for the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on your Canadian Galaxy S5 SM-G900W8, we have some good news for you, it is now available. If you are not rooted on stock firmware already, you should be receiving an OTA(Over The Air) update in the next few days at the latest.
However if you have a rooted Galaxy S5, you can install these updates yourself by using ODIN and stock firmware. Now we do highlt recommend doing a factory reset BEFORE installing the Marshmallow stock firmware update to start on a clean slate. These updates are supposed to work without doing a factory reset but since it’s a major upgrade from Lollipop to Marshmallow, you will have less chances of lag and other problems if you do a factory reset.
Also, not all Canadian Galaxy S5 models are available yet but you can always flash another carrier firmware on your phone so long as your Galaxy S5 matches the model number “SM-G900W8”.
These stock firmwares can also come in handy next time you brick your Galaxy S5 or end up in a bootloop.
Please refer to our guide on How to Unroot Galaxy S5 at GalaxyS5Root.com to learn how to use ODIN to flash this stock firmware.
Currently, Canadian firmwares are available for Bell, Telus, Sasktel, Koodo, and EastLink:
